Each Friday, The Salt Lake Tribune presents historic images in a special series called A Look Back. This week's installment features historic images of Salt Lake City's airport. The site, which was used as an airfield for the first time in 1911, expanded and was briefly named Woodward Field in the 1920s when the USPS began air mail service to Salt Lake City. By 1930, it was renamed the Salt Lake City Municipal Airport. It finally became the Salt Lake International Airport in 1968 when Western Airlines began a non-stop route to Calgary, Canada.
