This is where you can park at Park City Mountain, and how much it will cost you

Construction of a parking garage on the dirt lot near the Cabriolet lift raised concerns that the days of free parking were over.

Park City Mountain skiers and snowboarders rejoice: Free parking will return to Canyons Village for the 2025-26 season.

Visitors will not be charged to park in numerous lots around the resort’s northernmost base, the resort announced Thursday. Free options include:

  • The first two levels of the new parking garage that has been built near the bottom terminal of the Cabriolet lift, which shuttles visitors between the parking area and ski lifts.
  • Surface parking in the lot around the garage.
  • Surface parking in Lots 1, 2 and 3.
  • Surface parking in Lot 4 after noon.
  • Additionally, carpools of four people or more will be able to park for free from 8:30 a.m. until noon in Lot 4, which is within walking distance of the restaurants, shops and ski lifts. After noon, that lot opens to all parking.

The Cabriolet lot, situated just off of State Route 224 near Kimball Junction, has become a safe harbor for skiers and snowboarders in recent years as more and more Utah resorts have instituted paid parking and reservation systems. In 2022, Park City Mountain implemented a daily paid reservation system at its other base, Mountain Village.

So, almost immediately after Park City Mountain announced plans for a five-story parking garage on the dirt lot in March, speculation swirled that the days of free parking at the nation’s largest ski area were over. (Only the first two levels of the garage have been completed.)

For now, those remain unfounded. John Kanaly, a spokesperson for Park City Mountain, said that after looking at all the factors, resort officials determined that visitors would have the best “arrival experience” if the Canyons Village base continued to offer free parking. The total number of free parking spaces at that base this season, he said, will be on par with seasons past.

Just because the parking is free — or maybe more accurately because it is free — doesn’t mean spots will be available, especially on weekends and powder days. For those willing to pay, parking in Lot 4 is available from 8:30 a.m. until noon daily for $29 plus fees. Alternatively, Park City High offers free parking and a shuttle service to both the Canyons and Mountain bases on weekends and holidays.

The free High Valley Transit service also makes stops at Canyons Village. In addition to its Summit County routes, it offers a free bus between the Salt Lake Central Station, 325 S. 600 West, and Kimball Junction. The 107 runs every 90 minutes daily, with the first bus leaving Salt Lake City at 6:11 a.m. and the last bus leaving Kimball Junction at 7:51 p.m. It also makes stops at the University of Utah and on Foothill Drive.

Parking at the Mountain Village base, meanwhile, remains mostly unchanged.

There, reservations are required daily throughout the season until noon — an hour earlier than in previous years. From Dec. 5 to April 5, they cost $29 for surface lots and $50 for the parking garage, fees not included. Prior to and after those dates, parking will be free everywhere except the garage, though reservations will still be required.

The reservations system on the resort’s website is not yet open. Once it is, each account can make up to five advanced reservations.

No-shows and people who don’t make a reservation could be subject to a fine of at least $125.

Park City Mountain has announced it expects its first day of the 2025-26 season to be Nov. 21.

Update: Oct. 13, 2025, 10:35 a.m. • A free High Valley Transit but is scheduled to run between Salt Lake Central Station and Kimball Junction several times daily.
