Have you had trouble reserving a campsite at a Utah state park? Tell us about it.

(Tribune file photo) Years ago, a Memorial Day crowd swarmed the rocky shore line at Utah's Sand Hollow State Park. It has become increasingly difficult to reserve a campsite at Utah state parks on holiday weekends. The Tribune is inviting readers to share their experience with making reservations.

The Salt Lake Tribune invites you to share your experience trying to book a site at Utah’s increasingly crowded state campgrounds.

Over the past year, Utah’s state parks have seen record visitation, thanks to a pandemic that has made outdoor recreation in Utah more popular than ever before.

Last year, some 2.6 million visited the state parks, which offer socially distanced ways to enjoy scenic places, such as Bear Lake, Dead Horse Point and Snow Canyon.

Unsurprisingly, reserving a campsite has gotten more difficult, even impossible for some holiday weekends at the state’s more popular parks. The Utah Division of Parks and Recreation uses an outside contractor, Reserve America, for the public to use to book sites online up to four months in advance.
