Pay no attention to recent scuffles on the sideline.
When it comes to student life off the football field, Brigham Young University is the friendliest college in America.
That's according to students at the LDS Church-owned school, as reported in a new series of rankings on colleges.niche.com. The college rating site was formerly known as CollegeProwler.com.
The university's Provo campus isn't the only BYU school to earn high marks for cheeriness among classmates. BYU-Idaho in Rexburg won second place in the national glance at nearly 600 colleges offering four-year degrees.
The site surveyed about 55,000 students total, asking them to rate the friendliness of their peers, among other campus characteristics.
According to the site, the bronze medal for friendliness also went to a faith-based school. Biola University, the private evangelical Christian school in Southern California, came in third.
In Utah, Southern Utah University and Utah State University also made their way into the top 100, coming in at No. 70 and 78, respectively.
Most of the Top 100 schools are concentrated in the midwest or the west. Toward the bottom of the list, Ohio State University and the University of Southern California skated in at No. 97 and 100.
