Ogden • Utah prosecutors say a 15-year-old boy who fired a shotgun into a classroom ceiling before being disarmed by his parents last week remains in custody and they expect to file formal charges in the coming days.

The Standard-Examiner newspaper in Ogden reports the Davis County Attorney's Office says the investigation is large because of the number of witnesses involved, but charges are expected within the next week.

The teen, whose name has not been released, is set to appear for another court hearing Dec. 15.

He was arrested on suspicion of firearm theft and taking a weapon inside a school after the Dec. 1 shooting.

Bountiful police say his parents were concerned about conversations they had that morning and followed him to school finding two of their guns missing.
