Salt Lake County voters have chosen the local leaders they want to see on the ballot this fall.
Election results won’t be certified until Aug. 26, but all votes have been counted and unofficial results show incumbent mayors in Sandy and Murray will cruise toward competing in the November general election.
Unless otherwise noted, the top two vote-getters in each race will advance to general election ballots:
Bluffdale
City Council at large
In Bluffdale, all council members are at-large members and two seats are up for grabs. That means four of the five candidates that competed in the primary will advance. They are:
• Wendy Aston: 29.3%.
• Mackey Smith: 24.9%.
• Albert Allen Larsen: 16.7%.
• Jeff Steele: 16.5%.
Alder Holdings President Adam Christian will not move on but received 12.6% of the vote.
Draper
City Council at large
• Kathryn Dahlin: 47.6%.
• Brad Byington: 32.1%.
Commercial cleaning business co-owner Oliver Herrera Schuster and Corner Canyon High School student Evan Sorensen will not move on but captured 10.7% and 9.6% of the vote, respectively.
Emigration Canyon
Council at large
• Robert Pinion: 51.9%.
• Jacob Steed: 30.7%.
Zachary Posner and Dillon Wheelock and will not move on but garnered 13.8% and 3.7% of the vote, respectively.
Herriman
City Council District 3
• Matt Basham: 47.8%.
• Heather Garcia: 33%.
Real estate professional Rodman Grimm will not move on but captured 19.1% of the vote.
Holladay
Mayor
• Paul S. Fotheringham: 45.1%.
• Daren A. Watts: 28.5%.
Holladay Business Advisory Board member Zac Wilson will not move on but captured 26.4% of the vote.
Kearns
Mayor
• Tina Snow: 49.7%.
• Jesse Valdez (appeared on ballots as Michael Jesse Xon Valdez): 37.4%.
Christopher James Geertsen and Cache Dexter tallied 9.3% and 3.7% of the vote, respectively.
City Council District 2
• Health care appeal specialist Lindsay Longtin: 47.9%.
• Jordan Hansen (appeared on ballots as T Jordan Hansen): 26.7%.
Incumbent Al Peterson will not move on but captured 25.4% of the vote.
Magna
Mayor
• Mick Sudbury (appeared on ballots as Mickey Sudbury): 43.3%.
• Civics educator Alexander Adriano: 21%.
Technology engineer Michael Romero and recent law school graduate Maxwell Thomas White will not move on, but captured 19.8% and 15.9% of the vote, respectively.
City Council District 2
• Megan Olsen: 47.4%.
• Eric Barney: 38.2%.
Health care call center manager Cisco Rodriguez will not move on but garnered 14.4% of the vote.
City Council District 4
• Trish Hull: 40.2%.
• Terry George: 39.6%.
Retired shipping container salesperson Brooks Jones will not move on but garnered 20.2% of the vote.
Murray
Mayor
• Brett A. Hales: 58.8%.
• Bruce E. Turner: 24.6%.
Former Murray City planning and zoning commission Chair John Jeffrey Evans will not move on but totaled 16.6% of the vote.
City Council District 2
• Pamela Jane Cotter: 45.8%.
• Jared Michael Eborn: 24%.
Former council member Dale M. Cox and former homeowner association board member Aaron Lee Holbrook will not move on, but Cox captured 20.5% of the vote while Holbrook tallied 9.7%.
City Council District 3
• Clark Bullen: 44.7%.
• Ben Peck: 27.6%.
Incumbent Scott Goodman and former teacher Leann Parker-Reed will not move on, but garnered 18.3% and 9.3% of the vote, respectively.
Riverton
Mayor
• Tish Buroker: 60.3%.
• Tawnee McCay: 33.2%.
Information technology professional John Scott will not move on but tallied 6.4% of the vote.
Sandy
Mayor
• Monica Zoltanski: 57.1%.
• Cyndi Sharkey: 27.8%.
Sandy City Council member Alison Stroud, information technology professional Rodger Downward and Justin Hilgendorff will not move on. Stroud garnered 13% of the vote, Downward captured 1.4% of the vote and Hilgendorff tallied 0.6% of the vote.
City Council District 3
• Kris Nicholl: 41%.
• Iva Williams: 22.6%.
Community developer Parry Harrison and Ibantik Craft Beverages founder Matthew Ostrander will not move on, but garnered 21.4% and 15% of the vote, respectively.
West Jordan
City Council at large
All three of the City Council’s at-large seats are up for grabs this year, with a dozen candidates seeking a seat. The top-six vote-getters will move on to the November general election. They are:
• Kayleen Whitelock: 13.8%.
• Annette Harris: 13.5%.
• Jessica Wignall: 10.8%.
• Chris McConnehey: 10.4%.
• Rob Bennett: 10%.
• Sergio Sotelo: 10%.
David F. Pack and incumbent Kelvin Green will not move on but trailed closely, capturing 9.14% and 9% of the vote, respectively.
West Valley City
City Council at large
• Lars Nordfelt: 37.6%.
• Heidi Roggenbuck: 35.1%.
Real estate professional Justin Turcsanski and automotive fleet repair manager Ryan Mahoney will not move on, but captured 14.3% and 13% of the vote, respectively.
City Council District 2
• Scott Harmon: 59.4%.
• Danny George Jr.: 28.2%.
Appliance repair business owner Rocky Thomas will not move on but captured 12.4% of the vote.
City Council District 4
• Cindy Wood: 57.8%.
• Amitonu Wesley Amosa: 15.1%.
Jim Vesock and Geovani Salazar, a digital marketer for the University of Utah, will not move on but captured 14.2% and 13% of the vote, respectively.
