Mansion with private ski access to Park City Mountain is going up for auction

The White Pine Ranches property was listed for $26 million.

(Engel & Völkers Park City) A 5-acre estate that includes a 7,700-foot house with private lift access to the Tombstone base area at Park City Mountain, a guest cabin and an "entertainment barn" will go up for auction in June 2025.

An estate with direct, private access to one of the most popular lifts on the Canyons Village side of Park City Mountain is going up for auction.

The 7,700-square-foot house, guest house, luxe barn and pasture sit on 5 acres on the far northwest end of the Canyons Village in White Pine Ranches. White Pine Ranches is an “ultra-private” luxury ski-in, ski-out, 12-estate development wedged between ski trails within the resort.

This estate, according to the listing by the firm Engel & Völkers, comes with its own private access to the resort’s Tombstone, Over and Out and Timberline lifts. That access, according to a firm spokesperson, is via a “recorded easement ... and lets you park with a recreational vehicle next to the Tombstone area.”

The property has been listed for $26 million on Zillow for more than 40 days. Having not found a buyer, it will go up for auction June 12. The auction will close June 26, and Engel & Völkers expects starting offers to begin at between $7 million and $14 million.

Listing agent Paul Benson said in a statement to The Salt Lake Tribune that the sellers are familiar with auctions for luxury items such as art. They opted to go the same route with the Park City Mountain estate.

Benson said an auction “would frankly put more eyes on the home in a short period of time than traditional marketing.

“Having had success in the past with this process with unique properties, it absolutely made sense for this home. It is an exceptional home and somebody is going to absolutely love it when the final gavel drops for the winning bidder.”

As part of auction house Concierge Auction’s Key for Key program, some funds from the sale will be used toward building homes for families in need.

The log-and-stone main residence was designed by University of Utah alum Fred Babcock. It includes eight bedrooms and nine baths. The property also features a 1,000-square-foot guest house and a 3,166-square-foot “entertainment barn.”

Despite its asking price, the property will likely not become the most expensive in Utah, or even in the Colony. Rockstar Energy founder Russell Weiner bought a Colony estate for $39.6 million in 2022, making it the priciest in the state at the time. He relisted it last year for $47 million, but there is no record of its sale.

Meanwhile, another house with a private lift — a Tesla-like gondola to Deer Valley Resort — went up for sale late last year and broke the record for the most expensive home in Utah. The Wall Street Journal reported the 21,000-square-foot complex replete with an NBA-sized basketball court, a two-lane bowling alley, an infinity pool and a theater sold for close to $60 million.

Correction: May 26, 2025, 3:25 p.m. • Private access from the White Pine Ranches estate to Park City Mountain’s Tombstone base is via a recorded easement, not a lift.
