Northern Utah police arrest teen in ‘hate crime’ after duo slashes, steals pride flags from LGBTQ center
The arrest follows a surge of pride flag thefts in the area.

Logan police arrested a 16-year boy this week in connection with the slashing and stealing of pride flags from the Logan Pride Foundation’s meetinghouse last month.
Logan City Assistant Police Chief Curtis Hooley said a tip led to the identification of the teen as one of two perpetrators who vandalized and stole the flags.
The individual, who police say was recorded participating in the vandalism by security cameras at the house, was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief and theft, according to a statement issued by the Logan City Police Department on Tuesday. Police say the act was a hate crime.
Hooley said the case remains active as there is still one unidentified suspect.
“People need to be able to post their flags,” he said. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a pride flag or, you know, the elections coming up, all that stuff. I mean, that’s their property, and it needs to be left alone.”
