How to make your voice heard during Utah’s lawmaking process

A step-by-step guide for public comment.

Beyond voting, we don’t hear about a lot of ways to engage in the political process.

But during the Utah legislative session, there’s an opportunity for regular people to let representatives know what they think about a particular issue or bill.

You can find out when and where Utah lawmakers are going to discuss an issue by looking at their calendar here.

(Utah Legislature) You can find out what legislators are slated to talk about by looking at their calendar on their home page.

From a meeting page, you can request to provide public comment. (You can find step-by-step instructions from the Utah Legislature on providing public comment virtually here.)

(Utah Legislature) Members of the public can request to provide comment virtually, or attend committee hearings in person.
