A Provo man is recovering at home after being gored by a buffalo in southern Utah, according to a GoFundMe campaign to help pay for his medical bills.

On Nov. 21, Halen Carbajal was gored by the animal in his abdomen, causing an 8-inch laceration, a broken rib, a lacerated liver and a bruised lung, according to the campaign. He was flown to an intensive care unit in Utah County, and he spent seven days in a hospital, the campaign said. Carbajal is now at home and receiving medical care.

The organizer of the GoFundMe campaign said Carbajal is “one of the best and most selfless people I know. He just finished a season working with the Utah Conservation Corps, and he relies on his physical health for the kinds of work he does.”

Attempts to reach the organizer of the campaign were unsuccessful.

As of Sunday afternoon, the GoFundMe had raised $4,868.
