A bystander was also treated for survivable injuries.

(Salt Lake City Police) A man died after he was struck by a car while in a crosswalk near 1200 West and 600 North, then struck a second time by another car on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023.

A 69-year-old man was killed in Rose Park early Tuesday after he was hit by two separate cars.

The man was walking in a crosswalk on 600 North near 1200 West at about 8:17 a.m. when a station wagon turned on to the street and initially struck him, officials said in a news release.

The driver of the station wagon then got out of his car to help the injured man, but a second vehicle then turned on to the road and hit both the injured man and a separate bystander.

The first man who was hit died at the scene despite life-saving efforts from first responders. The bystander was treated for survivable injuries, police said.

Both drivers are cooperating with police, officials said. The man killed was later identified as Alan Dice, but officials did not release the name of either driver.

The crash marks the second traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City for 2023, after a man was killed in a hit-and-run near 700 East and 500 South on Jan. 15.
