Utah Tech student dies in fall from dorm balcony

His fall is believed to have been an accident.

(Dixie State University) A Utah Tech student fell to his death from a fifth-floor dorm balcony early Sunday.

A Utah Tech freshman died early Sunday morning when he fell from a fifth floor balcony at a student dorm.

Peyton Hall, 18, of South Jordan, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the university.

Hall fell about 55 feet from a balcony at the Campus View Suites II on-campus housing units at 180 S. 1000 East in St. George at about 2:30 a.m. His fall was witnessed by several other students and “appears to be an accidental death,” according to a Utah Tech news release, “although the investigation is ongoing.”

“Peyton was an involved and loved student in good academic standing at Utah Tech University, and our sincere condolences go out to his family, friends and loved ones during this tragic time,” according to a statement from the university.
