Are you a middle-income Utahn who bought a home recently? Tell us how you did it.

The Salt Lake Tribune wants to hear from readers who purchased a home in the last few years.

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) A home for sale in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

Some weeks, scrolling through Zillow’s Utah listings makes a person feel like owning a home is about as realistic as flying to the moon and discovering a bountiful variety of cheeses à la Wallace and Gromit.

In Salt Lake County, the yearly salary needed to buy a home is now a little over $100,000, far surpassing the state’s 2021 annual mean wage of $53,400.

As part of a series examining housing affordability in Utah, the Salt Lake Tribune would like to hear from you. If you’ve managed to purchase a home in say, the past two years, how did you do it with limited resources and without access to generational wealth?

We want to know about the success stories and we really want to know how you did it.

This story is part of The Salt Lake Tribune’s ongoing commitment to identify solutions to Utah’s biggest challenges through the work of the Innovation Lab.
