Three Millcreek men identified in West Jordan shooting

Two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old killed during a house party in possible gang attack.

Three people killed in a shooting Saturday night in West Jordan were identified by West Jordan police on Monday.

Police responded around 10:45 p.m. to a call that shots had been fired in the area of 3355 W. 6920 South, where a house party had been taking place. One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were taken to a hospital, where they died from their injuries.

WJPD identified the victims as Fayzan Ali and Ayash Mohamed, both believed to be 18, and Mohamed Mohamed, 20, all of Millcreek.

Another juvenile was taken into custody.

Officials said two of three victims had ties to a gang, according to a report by FOX 13 News.

“We believe that this act of violence was a planned, targeted act and that there is not currently a risk to the general public,” Richard Bell, deputy chief of the WJPD, said in a news conference. “We extend our condolences to the families of the deceased and will continue to work to identify and arrest those responsible. We ask that any members of the public who may have information that could help this investigation to contact West Jordan Police Dispatch at 801-840-4000 referencing case WJ22-36475.”
