Salt Lake City police say driver ran away after fatal crash

Police are seeking the driver of a white Ford F-150; the collision marks the 14th traffic-related death in SLC this year.

(Salt Lake City Police) A car crash at the intersection of Redwood Road and California Avenue on Friday night marked the 14th traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City this year.

A 28-year-old man died Friday night after a car crash at the intersection of Redwood Road and California Avenue.

According to Salt Lake City Police, a 911 caller reported the crash between a passenger car and a pickup truck about 10:11 p.m. First responders attempted to rescue the 28-year-old driver of the passenger car but he died at the scene.

The identity of the 28-year-old man was not made immediately available. The crash marked the 14th traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City so far this year, according to a news release from the department.

Witnesses told police that the driver of the truck got out of the vehicle and ran away from the scene. The pickup was identified as a white Ford F-150.

The driver remains unaccounted for, and anyone with information on the driver or the case should contact investigators at 801-799-3000.

The investigation remains ongoing.
