Unified Fire Authority firefighters are responding to a grass fire near I-80 and State Route 201.
The fire started shortly before 7 p.m., an official said Saturday night, but the size of the blaze was unknown. As of 7:30 p.m. the blaze was not threatening any structures and was contained between the the frontage road and the highway, and between Great Saltair and the Great Salt Lake Marina.
Smoke could be seen from Utah Department of Transportation cameras at I-80 westbound near milepost 101.45 as firefighters fought the blaze.
Information on how the fire started or when it might be contained was not immediately available.
