After springlike weather on Saturday, a storm will drop snow on much of Utah on Sunday, the first day of spring.

In Salt Lake City, temperatures will reach the low 60s on Saturday — but the wind will pick up, from 8-13 mph in the morning to 15-20 mph in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm will blow in early Sunday, bringing a 50% chance of rain after midnight Saturday and a 90% chance of rain Sunday morning. There’s a 60% chance of snow on Sunday afternoon.

Temperatures are expected to tumble, with highs in the mid-40s on Sunday and Monday before climbing back up to about 50 degrees on Tuesday, the mid-50s on Wednesday, and the low 60s on Thursday. Normal highs for this time of year are in the mid-50s.

An inch or less of snow accumulation is expected in northern Utah valleys on Sunday; 1-6 inches is possible in the northern mountains. Southern Utah valleys and mountains “are looking at about half of these amounts,” according to the weather service.

There’s a 30% chance of rain in St. George after midnight Saturday, and temperatures will drop there as well — from the low to mid-70s on Saturday to the mid-60s on Sunday and Monday. It’ll be about 70 degrees in St. George on Tuesday, in the mid-70s on Wednesday and in the low 80s on Thursday — about 10 degrees warmer than normal for this time of year.
