Are you eligible? Where Utahns can now get Amazon deliveries in 5 hours or less

The service launched in Utah on Thursday.

(Isaac Hale | Special to The Tribune) Employees walk around during a tour of the Amazon Fulfillment Center located at 777 N. 5600 West in Salt Lake City on Thursday, June 10, 2021.

Starting Thursday, Salt Lake Valley-area residents can receive deliveries from Amazon in five hours or less.

This new option is available for Prime Members, according to a news release, and is a “first-of-its-kind service in the region.” Utah joins Chicago, Atlanta, Phoenix and other cities in having access to the faster delivery option.

Here are more details about how it works.

What can I buy?

The service provides 3 million items across a dozen categories, including baby, beauty and health, kitchen and dining, electronics, pet supplies and more.

Eligible items can be found at amazon.com/samedaystore.

Where are the items coming from?

The items come from Amazon’s fulfillment center located at 6338 West 700 North Street, which opened in December, and are delivered by Amazon’s Flex drivers, who use their own personal cars.

“We have strategically grown our network to include fulfillment centers, package sortation centers and delivery stations all to be closer in proximity to our customers,” allowing “Amazon to deliver orders faster and more efficiently,” Natalie Wolfrom, a company spokesperson, said in an email.

Online retail and distribution giant Amazon has at least 10 sorting and fulfillment facilities along the Wasatch Front.
