2 Salt Lake City children struck, critically injured by car

It is “a possible impaired driver crash,” police say.

(Salt Lake City Police Department) Two school-age children were critically injured when they were struck by a car on Monday morning in Salt Lake City.

Two school-age children were taken to a hospital Monday with critical injuries after police said they were struck by a car in Salt Lake City.

The wreck is being investigated as a “possible impaired driver crash,” police said. The driver, who has not been identified, is cooperating with investigators.

The children, whose names and ages were not released, were struck shortly before 8 a.m. in the area of 1040 W. 400 South, according to Salt Lake City police.

Before impact, the driver of the 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling east on 400 South as the children were crossing north on Goshen Street.

Paramedics rendered aid at the scene before the children were hospitalized in critical condition, police said.
