Organizers for the Hispanic Heritage Parade and Festival announced Friday that the event — set for Saturday at The Gateway in downtown Salt Lake City — is being canceled because of the rise in COVID-19 cases.
”Due to the surging delta variant of COVID-19, we have decided to operate with an abundance of caution and cancel the event,” organizers said in a statement.
Organizers said they would work with vendors and other groups to create smaller events “to meet the moment of this new wave of the COVID crisis and promote vaccination.”
