The Oak Grove Fire is now 50% contained and 50% controlled, and fire crews and engines have stopped work on it, per an update on Sunday from Utah Fire Info.

“With no fire spread for several days and minimal internal fire activity, crews and engines are being released from the fire,” the update said.

Utah Fire Info added that “closures at the Oak Grove Campground remain in effect and include trails that lead into the area.”

The fire is estimated at 686 acres and started more than a week ago in the Dixie National Forest due to an unattended campfire. Smoke plumes were visible from I-15 and the nearby Oak Grove Campground needed to be evacuated.

Utah Fire Info said smoke will still be visible in the fire’s perimeter, and that the Dixie National Forest will continue patrolling the fire as necessary.
