A man accused of kidnapping two boys in Price has been arrested in Elko, Nev. — and the boys are now reported to be safe.
Derek Michael Rowley, 33, was arrested at about 1:23 a.m. Saturday morning by deputies of the Elko County Sheriff’s Office on U.S. Highway 93, according to a statement from the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, based in Price.
Rowley, the statement said, then told Elko County deputies where the boys were, and deputies went there — finding the boys, ages 8 and 6, and their mother.
According to the Elko sheriff’s Facebook page, the children were reunited with family members. The boys were in good health, the Carbon County sheriff’s statement said.
Rowley was booked into the Elko County jail, and is being held without bail. He has not been formally charged, but Elko County deputies say he is facing a kidnapping charge.
Over the last three days, the Carbon County statement said, law enforcement agencies received hundreds of tips on the case, which was the subject of an Amber alert issued Friday morning.
