The 4-year-old was located inside of a small toy chest in his room.

The death of a 4-year-old boy in Hurricane found in his home after being reported missing has been ruled accidental. According to a news release from the City of Hurricane Police Department, Kache Wallis was reported missing on July 26 after family could not locate him the morning after he had been put to bed the night before.

When police arrived, officers conducted a search of the home and he was not found. Detectives located the boy inside a small toy chest in his bedroom during a second search.

The Utah Medical Examiner’s office ruled after further investigation that the child’s death was accidental due to positional asphyxiation.

“Our sincerest condolences are sent to Kache and his family,” the release stated. “The Hurricane Police would like to thank the Washington County Sheriff’s office as well as their Search and Rescue team, Hurricane Valley Fire Department, St. George Communications Center, St. George Police Department, Washington City Police Department and the Citizens of Hurricane for your assistance in searching for Kache.”
