A man was critically injured and two teenagers — including a 13-year-old — were wounded in a drive-by shooting early Tuesday morning in Sandy.

Police say the shooting happened about 3:25 a.m. near 8600 South and 3OO East. The three male victims — ages 20, 18 and 13 — were taken to a hospital in a private car where hospital staff reported the shooting to police, said Sandy police Sgt. Clayton Swenson.

The 20-year-old was shot once in the chest and once in the thigh, and he is in critical condition, Swenson said. The 13-year-old was shot once in the hand, and the 18-year-old was shot once in the ankle, both of their injuries are not life-threatening.

At least six rounds were fired at the three victims. Bullets struck a nearby home, but no one inside was injured.

Police are combing the area for evidence. “There’s no suspect information at this point — not even a vehicle description,” Swenson said. He asked that anyone who has information about the shooting contact the Sandy Police Department at 801-568-7200.
