Almost 11,000 more Utahns were vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus on Thursday, taking the total to more than 1.5 million who have received at least one shot. That’s just over 46% of the state’s population.
The Utah Department of Health also reported 288 new cases of the coronavirus and three more deaths.

Deaths reported in past day • Three — a woman 85 or older in Box Elder County, a man 65-84 in Davis County, and a woman 45-64 in Salt Lake County.
Tests reported in past day • 4,357 people were tested for the first time. A total of 7,643 people were tested.
Hospitalizations reported in past day • 147. That’s seven more than on Thursday. Of those currently hospitalized, 54 are in intensive care units, unchanged from Thursday.
Percentage of positive tests • Under the state’s original method, the rate is 6.6%. That’s slightly higher than the seven-day average of 6.3%.
The state’s new method counts all test results, including repeated tests of the same individual. Friday’s rate was 3.8%, the same as the seven-day average.

Totals to date • 407,113 cases; 2,311 deaths; 16,914 hospitalizations; 2,706,134 people tested.
