Family in Syracuse finds body of a man under their deck

Police say the man likely died about a week before the children found him.

A family in Syracuse found the body of a dead man under their back deck last Friday, FOX 13 reports.

The man was identified as 28-year-old Levi Anderson, according to FOX 13. Police had been looking for Anderson almost a week before his body was discovered because he’d been accused of stealing from a Walmart near the house. Police say it appears that Anderson died within hours of crawling under the deck, but they don’t know how he died.

Nate Lucas, the father of the children who found the body, told FOX 13 that is is difficult to fathom that it took so long to find Anderson’s body.

“What was going on that made him pass away? Could we have helped him? How long was he alive? We were functioning as a family for five days while this man was under there,” he said to FOX 13.
