Man in custody after woman found shot to death in car

Police say the two had a history of domestic violence cases.

Unified Police have a man in custody after he allegedly shot his girlfriend and left her body in a car.

Officers with the Highway Patrol went to the scene of an apparent car crash on I-80 on Saturday morning around 3 a.m., according to Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler. Instead of a normal car crash, they found a woman who was dead with a gunshot wound.

She has since been identified as 32-year-old Shandon Nicole Scott.

Cutler said the car’s driver fled but was apprehended by police and is in custody. She said he was Scott’s boyfriend and the two have a history of domestic violence cases.

Cutler said it appears the shooting happened outside in Millcreek. She said she isn’t sure where the suspect was driving or what caused the crash.
