More than a million Utahns have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Utah Department of Health — about 44% the eligible population over the age of 16.

The total number as of the end of the day Tuesday — 1,013,308 — represents about 30% of Utah’s total population. Just short of 600,000 Utahns have been fully vaccinated (with either both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine) — which is about 26% of those Utahns eligible to get the vaccine, and about 18% of the total population, according to U.S. Census estimates.

“This is a milestone worth celebrating and we hope this number will continue to rise as more and more Utahns choose to become vaccinated,” Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said in a statement. “The speed in which we’ve been able to vaccinate Utahns is a testament to the hard work and dedication by Utah’s public health system and our statewide vaccination partners.”

UDOH also reported that the number of new cases of COVID-19 jumped back over 600, and there were two more deaths.
