Wellington police chief placed on unpaid leave

The city hasn’t said why he is under investigation.

Wellington’s police chief has been put on unpaid leave pending an investigation, FOX 13 reports.

No explanation has been provided for why Chief Rory Bradley is under investigation.

“Effective April 1, 2021, Wellington City Police Chief, Rory Bradley will be placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the process of a personnel action and active investigation,” the city said in a news release, according to FOX 13. “No additional information regarding this matter is available at this time.”

The city said Bradley was on administrative leave on March 18.

City Council was supposed to vote on a personnel action, apparently in reference to Bradley, on Thursday but the city attorney asked for the vote to be postponed because of a new development, according to FOX 13. Bradley and his father are both on the council but did not attend Thursday’s meeting.

FOX 13 filed a records request for complaints about and investigations into Bradley but the request was denied.
