Argument ends when one man intentionally runs over another in Salt Lake City

The victim is critically injured, and the driver is in custody.

Salt Lake City police are investigating after a man was intentionally run over and critically injured by a driver Sunday in Sugar House.

The driver, whose name has not been released, is in police custody.

According to police, the two men began arguing — possibly physically fighting — at the Smith’s Food and Drug at 922 E. 2100 South shortly after 3:30 p.m. The argument continued after the two men left the store, and witnesses reported that the suspect ran over the victim near 2010 South 900 East. The injured man was taken to a hospital in critical condition. His name was also not released.

The driver fled the scene on foot and was apprehended shortly thereafter by police officers.

The investigation is continuing.
