South Jordan is holding its annual Light the Night activities virtually this year.

The coronavirus might be preventing traditional holiday gatherings and parties, but South Jordan won’t let it stop the season’s fun.

The city’s annual Light the Night event will be held virtually this year, with activities beginning Monday. That night, South Jordan residents can drive by Heritage Park at 10800 S. Redwood Road from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to see Santa and pick up a goody bag with a cookie, a candy cane and an activity booklet. Proof of residency will be required to get the goods. Lights decorating the city center and the city’s Christmas tree will be up through Dec. 25, according to spokeswoman Rachael Van Cleave.

The activity booklet has holiday activities including a virtual scavenger hunt happening from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6 and instructions on how to get a phone call from one of Santa’s elves. Nonresidents can participate by downloading the booklet online.

This year, South Jordan will also have candy window displays at City Hall and in shops along Towne Center Drive throughout the month, as well as a dropbox for letters to Santa from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6 at 1600 W. Towne Center Drive (on the west side of City Hall).
