Thanksgiving + coronavirus = long lines at Utah liquor stores

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) People line up outside the Cottonwood Heights liquor store the day before Thanksgiving on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, on what is typically the busiest sales day of the year for the Utah Dept. of Alcohol Beverage Control.

The day before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest sales day of the year at Utah’s state-run liquor stores, as last-minute shoppers pick up wine and spirits for the holiday.

Officials from the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control were expecting lines to be especially long this year, because the number of customers allowed in each store at one time is limited to maintain social distancing and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
