Woman shot and killed in Midvale identified

A woman died Friday after being shot in Midvale, Unified Police said. Another individual was injured and has been hospitalized.

Sgt. Melody Cutler said the shooting is believed to have occurred at a hotel. The surviving victim ran to a WinCo grocery store location at 7020 S. 700 West where employees helped him. It was originally reported that the shooting took place at the WinCo, according to FOX 13.

The Unified Police Department said Monday that the woman who was killed in Friday’s shooting was 39-year-old Teresa Marie Alires of Salt Lake City. The second victim, who the department did not name, was hospitalized and then released to Adult Probation and Parole on a parole violation.

No shooter has been caught, but a weapon has been recovered, according to police.

A male and female were seen leaving the crime scene on foot. A white 2005 Cadillac was spotted nearby by witnesses. Police are looking for anyone who could have been in the car as well as the pair who left on foot.
