Orem police arrest man for firing gun at Trump rally

Orem police arrested a man who allegedly fired a gun into the air and threatened people at a Trump rally.

Police were called to a Trump rally on Tuesday at the intersection of State Street and University Parkway, according to a probable cause statement. People in a black sedan had allegedly driven past the rally yelling obscenities at the Trump supporters. Someone in the car fired two rounds into the air, according to the statement . The car then came back and parked near the rally. A man inside the car threatened the Trump supporters and pointed a gun at them, witnesses told police.

Police later got a call from a man who said he had picked up two hitchhikers who had talked about being wanted by the police. A witness identified one of them as the man who fired the gun at the rally. He was arrested for assault, discharging a firearm and drug possession.
