The body of an Idaho man who was reported missing in the High Uintas Wilderness Area was found Sunday afternoon, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office announced in a news release.

Kyle S. Wimpenny, 25, of Boise, left his home on Sept. 13 for the High Uintas Wilderness Area, with plans to hike to Kings Peak, according to police. He told his roommate he would be home by Wednesday, and he was reported missing on Thursday.

Search and rescue teams found Wimpenny’s body on Sunday afternoon, after four days of searching. His body was airlifted from Kings Peak and turned over to the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner.

“It appears Kyle fell approximately 1,000 feet while attempting to summit Kings Peak,” the Summit County Sheriff’s Office wrote in the release.

“Our hearts are broken for the Wimpenny family and friends,” the Summit County Sheriff’s Office wrote. “We offer our most sincere condolences as they mourn the tragic loss of Kyle. Hug your family members and friends often.”
