Man killed in possible drive-by shooting in Layton identified

A man found in a Layton street with multiple fatal gunshot wounds has been identified.

Police have found indications that the death of 34-year-old Jonathan Trujillo was the result of a drive-by shooting, according to Sgt. Eric Smith of the Layton Police Department.

Smith said officers responded to a call near the intersection of Golden Avenue and Church Street, where they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Trujillo was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where he died.

Smith said neighbors and witnesses are cooperating with officers. Police do not believe a public threat exists.

Anyone with information about the shooting is being asked to contact Layton police at 801-497-8300.
