Police find woman who says she was kidnapped and beaten

Police on Saturday found a woman who was allegedly held against her will for two days and showed signs she had been physically abused.

Officers said they saw injuries to the woman’s face and neck when they found her running and screaming as a man chased her. She told police the man had hit her with a pole and punched her. She also said the man threatened to hang her with a noose that hung in the detached garage in Midvale where she had been living.

Salt Lake County officers arrested the man on suspicion of kidnapping and aggravated assault, probable cause documents show. The man said the woman, who he described as an ex-girlfriend, owed him money and he “was going to let her go as soon as I got my money back.”

The man was also arrested for giving false information to a police officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The woman was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries.
