Fire leads to evacuation advisory near Utah County’s Pole Canyon

A fire broke at around 2 p.m. in Pole Canyon in Utah County, near the town of Cedar Fort.

Crews used two heavy air tankers, a helicopter, smoke jumpers and four single engine air tankers to battle the blaze.

Utah Valley dispatch and the city of Eagle Mountain noted an evacuation advisory for the White Hills subdivision, although it is not a mandatory order.

Utah Fire Info noted that the flames are moving away from structures and that the fire was caused by heavy equipment. In the most recent update, the fire had grown to 488 acres and was 0% contained.

A “few resources” will remain on scene overnight and an incident management team will assume command in fighting the fire Thursday morning.
