Man shot to death in West Valley City park

West Valley City police are investigating after a man was found shot to death in a park on Sunday night.

Officers arrived at Peachwood Park, 3525 W. 3965 South, at about 7:15 p.m. and found the body of a man who, they said, had been shot.

Officers later identified the victim as 17-year-old Edwin B. Reyes.

“The investigation is ongoing,” the police department tweeted, but it is being handed over to the another agency because the victim is related to an employee of the West Valley City police department.

“Due to a conflict of interest,” the tweet stated, “West Jordan Police Department will conduct the investigation.”
