Two dead after train collides with car in Juab County

Two people were killed and another critically injured on Saturday when a train struck a car at a railroad crossing in Juab County.

Cassandra Brielle Hatch, 22, of Gilbert, Ariz., and Tanner Ryan Davies, 22, of Spanish Fork, were passengers in the vehicle and both were killed. The driver, 22-year-old Jacob Michael Cottle, of La Plata, Md., was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to a news release from the Juab County sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said the crash happened in Mona, on Burraston Road where it intersects with the Union Pacific railroad tracks.

“The investigation remains ongoing and there are no additional details immediately available of the exact cause or contribution factors leading to the crash,” according to the release.
