President Donald Trump on Thursday evening announced on Twitter that he is committing $64.5 million to a bus rapid transit project that would serve Ogden and Weber State University.
The project would connect the Ogden Frontrunner rail station to the university and McKay-Dee Hospital, a stretch 5.3 miles in length, per the plan details.
The route, called the Ogden/WSU BRT, will include 13 stations with buses arriving every 10 minutes from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and every 15 minutes for the rest of the day — a total of 20 hours. Buses will arrive every 15 to 30 minutes on weekends.
Trump drew internet ire for misspelling “Utahn.” Users also made light of the fact that WSU and the hospital are less than a mile apart.
Trump also tweeted financial commitments to myriad transit products in places all over the country, including Phoenix; Tampa Bay, Fla., and the state of Indiana.
