After slow progress had been made on the La Verkin Hill fire, , things took a turn by Wednesday midday.
By 11:30 a.m., the fire — which started Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. about a half-mile east of La Verkin in Washington Count — was 100% contained. And updated mapping showed a more accurate size of 150 acres. Just a couple hours earlier, it was announced the fire was still burning over 200 acres and was 10% contained.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
The blaze is close to the Anderson Junction fire, which is also 100% contained.
