Utah 5-year-old dies after being hit by a car while he was riding a scooter

A 5-year-old boy died after he was run over by a driver while he was riding a scooter Sunday in Millcreek.

The boy was with his brother sometime after sunset on Neffs Lane, about 3600 South near 2300 East, FOX 13 reported. He was riding a scooter, while his brother rode a bicycle, Unified police said.

A neighbor was driving on the road and spotted the boy on the bike — but not the one on the scooter, police said.

“He was run over and he was killed,” UPD Lt. Mike Schoenfeld told FOX 13.

The driver is cooperating with police, Schoenfeld said.
