Utah woman dies in fire

A woman died in a weekend fire at her Roy house, fire crews said.

Jamie Allen, 60, died when the fire broke out early Sunday near 2835 W. 4975 South, according to a spokesman for the Roy City Fire Department. Neighbors reported hearing a loud explosion and then discovered the house engulfed in flames.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. The house was destroyed; damage was estimated at $200,000.

Allen’s body was found in the back of the home after crews extinguished the fire and then spent several hours stabilizing what remained of the home so they could enter. She lived alone and had four cats, according to firefighters. The body of one of the cats was found in the home.
