Hours after a 3-year-old Murray boy shot himself in the head with a gun he found on a counter in his home, a Brigham City child was hospitalized after police say he accidentally shot himself.
The 9-year-old boy was taken to Brigham City Hospital and then to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City after he accidentally shot himself in the head at about 5 p.m. Thursday, Brigham City police told FOX 13.
The investigation into the shooting was ongoing as of Thursday night, Brigham City police said.
The Murray child shot himself at about 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Murray police said. Investigators believe the child woke up before other members of his family and climbed up on a counter, where he found the gun. The child was taken to Intermountain Medical in Murray by a family member, then flown by helicopter to Primary Children’s Hospital.

The Murray child was expected to survive, Murray police said. The condition of the Brigham City child has not been reported.
