Utah woman drowns while swimming at Crystal Hot Springs

A Utah woman drowned at Crystal Hot Springs in Honeyville on Saturday afternoon.

The 51-year-old woman from Cache Valley was swimming at the water park 12 miles north of Brigham City when “some teenagers, also in the pool, noticed she was struggling and determined she was in trouble,” according to Chief Deputy Dale F. Ward of the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office.

The teens called for help, and bystanders “with medical background” performed CPR on the victim. When first responders arrived, they took over CPR. The victim was flown by helicopter to Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton, where she later died.

The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of family members.
