One killed, one wounded in Ogden shooting

After one person was killed and another was injured in a shooting Thursday night in Ogden, officers arrested one suspect, a 19-year-old man from Pleasant View, said Ogden Police Lt. Michael Boone.

The shooting was reported at about 9:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Porter Ave., Boone said Friday at a news conference. Medics found Isaac Gonzales, 21, had been wounded by gunfire. He was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital, where he later died.

Another victim arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound, Boone said, but that person's injury was not life-threatening. Police learned that the second victim and Gonzales were wounded in the same shooting.

Investigators interviewed witnesses and took the 19-year-old suspect into custody, Boone said. The teenager was interviewed by police and then booked into the Weber County jail on suspicion of homicide and other charges.

Boone said officers were not looking for other suspects, "but we are very early on in the investigation," he said.

The shooting appears to have “a foundation in drugs,” Boone said. He would not provide further details as to evidence of a drug dispute or the victims’ connection to the dispute. “Again, it’s still very early on,” he said.
