Man found dead inside burning Salt Lake City house

Salt Lake City firefighters found a dead man inside a burning house on Friday.

Firefighters were called to the house at 719 E. Logan Avenue just after 7 a.m. Friday. They arrived to find the front porch of the structure ablaze. The fire extended into the house, according to Division Chief Ryan Mellor of the Salt Lake City Fire Department, and crews quickly extinguished the flames.

“When they made entry into the home, they found one deceased male inside,” Mellor said. “At this point, we have no idea the circumstances behind his demise — whether it was in the fire or something that happened before the fire.”

The man’s identity has not yet been released. The cause of the fire and the man’s death are under investigation.
