The new decade blew into northern Utah on Wednesday, puffing snow into the valleys, albeit sometimes less than the steepest predictions. The National Weather Service had forecast 2 to 6 inches in the valleys, but by 7 p.m. Wednesday, the weather service reported just 1 1/2 inch had fallen at Salt Lake City International Airport.

Brigham Young University received 3.3 inches and Park City 3 inches. Alta was the biggest winner among the ski resorts at 7.8 inches.
