Utahns might get another white Christmas

(Courtesy of the National Weather Service) Utahns can expect some snow through Friday.

Storms are expected to descend upon Utah on Christmas Eve — but the snow might be cutting it close, the National Weather Service reported.

Winter storms will likely begin in south-central Utah on Monday, dumping 7 to 14 inches of snow in the Bryce Canyon area, according to a winter weather advisory.

The cities of the Wasatch Front are expected to see a mix of rain and snow starting Tuesday, with minimal snow accumulation and high temperatures in the mid-40s. Snow showers are likeliest early Wednesday morning as temperatures drop to around 32 degrees, but accumulation is expected to be less than an inch.

The Wasatch Mountains are likely to see more snow, with 4 to 9 inches falling at Alta on Tuesday and Wednesday. Snow may impact Christmas travel, NWS warned, especially in the mountains of central and southern Utah.

For Monday, look for cloudy skies and temperatures in the high 40s in Salt Lake and Utah counties, with overnight lows around 34 degrees. Temperatures are much cooler in Logan, with a Monday high of 32 and low of 26. In Cedar City, look for rain and snow to start Monday, with temperatures ranging from 48 to 31 degrees. Moab is expected to stay cloudy today, with a high of 45 and overnight low of 27.

St. George can expect a rainy Christmas week, starting tonight, with temperatures Monday between 55 and 40 degrees.
